CLEAN SHABBY CHIC

It's a bit too hot to blog today. Actually, it's a bit too hot to think altogether. Feeling the need for some white rooms to cool me off, I popped by Shootspaces to see if they could help a damsel in distress. Naturally, they could (they're British, after all).

This should be just the house to charm the shabby chic-enthusiast in us all, although it's very clean and not too romantic.

See the Dualit toaster in the photo below? It's the ridiculously expensive one I considered buying a while back, under the pretext that if one just toasts enough old bread, one eventually has saved the expenses. But a girl can only eat so much toast, so in the end I opted for a cheaper (read: less expensive) version.

Second-hand shopping ideas for the kitchen: old framed flower prints, white porcelain, nice tins, old cutlery with bone handles (remember not to put these in the dishwasher, they'll crack up after a while).

I suspect there's been a good deal of paint distressing going on to make the dining room furniture look like this. I like the real thing, i.e. old furniture and original peeling paint, although it's not always easy to tell the difference...

There's nothing distressing about the bathroom though!

My favourite room is this fabulous nursery, which is so cheerful despite being totally void of plastic junk:

Good morning Trudi,
you've posted pictures of a lovely home indeed. Personally I like a modern country touch, but it mustn't be too classic or too romantic, so I'm definitely able to find inspiration here!

Have a nice Sunday.

What a beautiful home Trudi. I would love to live in a house this clean and simple and yet "lived in". I am really starting to like these pared down spaces. My house does not have good architecture at all, and I tend to fill up the spaces to make them look better, but my natural affinity is for clean, simple, wide open spaces like this.

A lovely collection of restful spaces!
And your new book...I am so jealous!

This is such a beautiful house! The nursery is stunning, although I do think babies and toddlers need bright colors - doesn't mean they have to live in a Rubiks Cube - but seeing how my son responds to color I'm not sure about such a subtle and elegant room for him! The living room is my favorite here. That fireplace is just gorgeous. Great find!

Oh, and thanks for stopping by my blog, Trudi! You're not behind at all! Thank you for the nice comments.

I just love these photos. It gives me a lot of inspiration for when we (eventually) buy our own house. I'd love to have a base colour of white for everything, and then plenty of colour in the accessories. This is probably a bit too white for me, but it wouldn't take much to make it my dream space.

I think they have found a perfect balance in these images. The interiors are not to overdone with a multitude of florals and patterns. Very inspiring.

I love those interiors, all white with declinaisons of cream and ivory colours, looking simple, warm and with great style! I adore the mirror above the fireplace!!
