In my last post, I said I wouldn't bore you with lots of holiday pictures. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to stick to what we promise... I've been going through my photos from Italy this weekend, and there are a few that I would like to share after all. There are sort of three categories, but they more or less merge into one.
First, there are doors and windows, which have been my favourite objects over the years.
(Gaeta)
I prefer details to the big picture, like this lovely decoration (the guy in the blue T-shirt matched so well that I kept him in the picture!).
(Siena)
Sometimes I'm lucky enough to spot something out of the ordinary inside an open door!
(Florence)
(Siena)
...things are not always what they seem!
(Siena)
Then there's colour, of course. What people use on their exteriors and interiors will vary depending on culture and natural resources, so this is always interesting. I like the different pinks and yellows a lot.

And then there's the beauty of decaying buildings - peeling paint, broken tiles, walls that are cracking up...

(outside San Gimignano)
...and contrasts...

Let's not forget whiteness!
