Contradiction!

In my last post, I said I wouldn't bore you with lots of holiday pictures. Sometimes it's a bit difficult to stick to what we promise... I've been going through my photos from Italy this weekend, and there are a few that I would like to share after all. There are sort of three categories, but they more or less merge into one.

First, there are doors and windows, which have been my favourite objects over the years.

(Gaeta)

I prefer details to the big picture, like this lovely decoration (the guy in the blue T-shirt matched so well that I kept him in the picture!).

(Siena)

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to spot something out of the ordinary inside an open door!

...things are not always what they seem!

Then there's colour, of course. What people use on their exteriors and interiors will vary depending on culture and natural resources, so this is always interesting. I like the different pinks and yellows a lot.

And then there's the beauty of decaying buildings - peeling paint, broken tiles, walls that are cracking up...

...and contrasts...

Let's not forget whiteness!

Aaand...

...She's back! I won't bore you with a zillion holiday pictures from Italy, but I've got a few photos that I would like to share. I love sneak photographing window displays in shops, and I couldn't walk past this one that we came across in Rome!

I suspect that Fattorini might differ just sliiightly from my accustomed price range. But looking is free! I found their website as well. If you click here, you can see more photos from the same showroom!

We were going to visit the second-hand store on our last day in Florence, but it turned out to be Bank Holiday and all the shops were closed...

Hearts

A happy surprise was waiting for me as I returned from Italy. I got this cute award from artist Lisa Rivas of Flying Colors!

Thank you Lisa! I love your blog too, and your art! I wanted to give you the Brillante Weblog award earlier, but discovered that you already got it. And I can't give you this one either, for obvious reasons... Oh, well. Next time!

The rules are simple:
1 Make a blog post where you pass the award on to seven blogs you like and
2 Post a comment at their blog to tell them about the award!

I find choosing extremely difficult, but this time, I'm giving the award to

A Mad Tea Party With Alis
Carolina Eclectic
Decor Amor
DecoCentric
Ma Petite Théière
The Paris Apartment

And finally: Michelle (who gave me the Brillante Weblog award) of

Table's set!

Hmm, can't stay away completely, it seems... Jennifer over at MadeByGirl told about an interior mag called MiCasa the other day. I checked it out and found this lovely photo:

Great inspiration for a dinner table, isn't it?

Update

Sorry I've been absent lately! I've been working on my apartment, which involves moving furniture around quite a lot - in addition to decluttering, giving away stuff, cleaning, furniture building (!), paper filing... you get the gist. And since I'm the kind of person that gets really deep into what I'm doing, there hasn't been room for blogging. I'll make it up to you later! And I'll of course show some of the things I've done in my apartment when I'm back.

A little inspiration:

I found this cool photo on my desktop. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I originally found it. If you recognize it, do post a comment so I can credit the owner!

This would make a great DIY project if you've got old cheap frames (don't accidentally spray paint something from the sixteenth century)

Have fun!

The end of the page but...

... not the end of the blog! You'll find more posts if you click the pink links above to the right/left.

Enjoy - and feel free to leave comments on my older posts as well!
